[attr="class","genborder"] [attr="class","genbg"] [attr="class","gentitle"]SKILLS AND YOU [attr="class","geninfo"] [attr="class","gendesc"]In TEG you will be able to choose different skills that you will upgrade as you Role-Play on the site. These skills are not just flavor and have an actual purpose on the forum. With the battle systems, we have designed you will use your skills to give you an advantage in various situations and allow you to overcome the challenges presented to you. Not all skills are just for combat and several fall into a social category. These can be anything from hacking a computer to being skilled in the culinary arts. These skills help you with your jobs and when dealing with others.
New characters will be able to choose from 3 of the listed skills. Your first set of skills, as well as any time you acquire a new skill, will always begin at rank 1. By using the in-game money you gain from forum activities, such as posting and events, you will be able to purchase levels to upgrade your skills increasing the benefits they give and potentially unlocking completely new actions.
You may also purchase new skills using money, but at an increased cost over leveling an already gained skill. There is no hard cap on the amount of skills you may have but it is encouraged to specialize your character with the skills you chose at the beginning. As you gain new skills it will become harder to level those skills and even more expensive to purchase additional ones. Again the forum currency is the only way to gain these new skills meaning that above all else activity is the best way to improve your character.
How these skills are applied real-time will be explained in our SYSTEMS thread.

[attr="class","gentitle2"]PRESTIGE SKILLS [attr="class","geninfo"] [attr="class","gendesc"]Prestige Skills are special abilities that have unique requirements and work differently than the standard skills. For example, Combat Discipline requires a Rank 5 combat skill to be unlocked before you can purchase it. When its purchased it will help remove penalties in threads.
In general Prestige skills will be both more useful and more specialized than the standard skills and thus are ONLY APPLICABLE IN OFFICIAL EVENT THREADS. Although they may not be used in regular play that does not mean they are not significant. |

With the marksmanship skill, you will be more skillful with various types of firearms from pistols to sniper rifles. With each rank in marksmanship, you will increase your accuracy when firing a gun. A rank 1 marksman is vastly more accurate than a novice and is great at target practice.

Each rank of martial arts increases the accuracy and strength of your blows as well as allowing you to learn new advanced techniques and styles. A rank 1 martial artist would know basic fighting techniques. [RECEIVES ADDITIONAL BONUSES FROM ATHLETICISM]
Receives ONE extra point for checks from ATHLETICISM regardless of rank. Can total up to SEVEN with Athleticism. With the melee weaponry skill, you will always have all the ammo you need as you master the art of melee weaponry such as swords, knives, staffs and other close ranged weapons. With pain tolerance the next time you take a tire iron to the face it’ll feel like toddler’s slap. As you increase your pain tolerance skill you will be able to reduce the effectiveness of damage on your body with higher pain tolerances mitigating the effect of projectile weapons. This does not reduce the damage you take but only the immediate effect that has on you. A rank 1 pain tolerance skill allows you to take physical blows better than average.
Pain tolerance checks will allow or disallow your character to continue fighting.

As you improve the Combat Medicine skill you will be able to treat more injuries and learn new techniques. A rank 1 combat medic can temporarily treat basic wounds.
Combat medicine will see how well you can treat wounds on the battlefield. Some wounds will require a rank 1 combat medicine skill to attempt. A rank 1 awareness skill means you are slightly more aware of the world than other people. This skill, like athleticism, is a universal physical skill and just by having it you have an advantage over those who do not. Stealth also means you draw less attention towards yourself even in large crowds. A rank 1 stealth skill means you are stealthier than average. With the interrogation skill that won’t be a problem since you will be both the good and bad cop able to get even the most sensitive details about a man’s mother from him. As you improve you interrogation skill you will ask better questions and be more skillful at detecting lies. Also, you will learn new interrogation techniques that would make even the cruelest taskmaster cringe. A rank 1 interrogator asks better questions and sees lies easier. [attr="class","gentitle2"]Observant [attr="class","geninfo"] [attr="class","gendesc"]The world would be easier if people didn’t write so much down between the lines, but that is what observant people like you are for. With the observant skill, you will catch the small details that pull together entire pieces of information and see hidden secrets. Unlike the awareness skill being observant does not improve your world awareness but instead means you will see details that others may miss. As you increase your observation skill you will find it easier to see details and put together links that others may not. A rank 1 observation skill means you are more observant than others, particularly with reading. [attr="class","gentitle2"]Sleight of Hand [attr="class","geninfo"] [attr="class","gendesc"]Unfortunately, magic isn’t actually real. But no one else needs to know that! With Sleight of Hand, you will be quick enough with your hands to put on a masterful act that could fool even the greatest skeptic. Sleight of Hand does not directly mean just magic and illusions, but also allows pickpocketing to steal from or plant items on people As you increase your Sleight of Hand skill you will be able to more easily trick people as well as be more successful at pickpocketing. A rank 1 Sleight of Hand is the equivalent of being able to perform advanced card tricks and other illusions with your hands. [attr="class","gentitle2"]Demolitions [attr="class","geninfo"] [attr="class","gendesc"]What would the world be without people like you who love to just blow shit all to hell. With Demolitions, you will be able to handle explosions of various types and sizes. Everything from creating household basic explosives to tinkering with big bombs you will always be able to bring that extra bang to a party. Demolitionists also know how to defuse bombs. As you increase your Demolitions skill you will be able to create stronger and more advanced explosives as well as be able to disarm more complicated explosives. A rank 1 Demolitionist can make basic explosives out of common items and has a great knowledge of explosives in general.
