][attr="class","gentitle2"]What are invasion threads?
[attr="class","geninfo"]
[attr="class","gendesc"]Invasion threads are threads that the group authority and some criminals are able to do depending on the situation. This means that with staff permission these groups can invade other threads that would otherwise be off limits due to the common courtesy of not invading other people's threads. This also includes closed threads that are for you and any other member you intended to join.
We allow members of the authority and certain criminals to invade threads as long as they have staff permission via PM and have valid reasons to do so.
It doesn't matter if you have agreed to the site plot or not, your thread can still be invaded.

It doesn't matter if you have agreed to the site plot or not, your thread can still be invaded.
[attr="class","gentitle2"]Why do we have invasion threads?
[attr="class","geninfo"]
[attr="class","gendesc"]Invasion threads help keep the realism on the site so when your character who is technically a criminal is running around doing stuff in an obvious manner, there are going to be repercussions for it. Your character can't get away with anything just because they are in a closed thread.
Members that are part of the authority group have the ability to invade threads with staff permission, so if they're reading your thread and see that your character is doing something obviously illegal in a blatant manner, they can PM the staff and request to invade your thread. The staff will look it over and let that authority figure know if they can or can't, and if they are given permission your thread will be invaded and you may be chased and thrown in jail if you are caught doing said illegal activities.
Generally, there will be a scenario given by the staff upon invasion so you're not having someone randomly jump in. It can be something simple from "Someone has spotted (your character) doing something shady and have called the cops!" and from there the person with the authority figure will post.

[attr="class","gentitle2"]What if I get caught?
[attr="class","geninfo"]
[attr="class","gendesc"]If you get caught and you want to try bluffing your way out of the thread you are more than welcome to request a staff to monitor the thread so you can roll to bluff your way out of it. Otherwise, if you are unable to persuade the cop that you are innocent you will be taken to the station for questioning, if you are caught you can be thrown in jail.
[attr="class","gentitle2"]THE SET UP: Setting up invasion
[attr="class","geninfo"]
[attr="class","gendesc"]When an authority figure or admin has found a character being obvious in their illegal activities they will plan to invade it with authority figures. The set up for the thread will usually interrupt your post schedule and once your post schedule has been interrupted you must accommodate the new authority figure that will now be participating.
Upon invading a thread a staff will have a message saying something along the lines of "A person has overseen (your character) doing something shady and has alerted the cops! They will be here shortly!" From there the authority figure will post and then the original post order with the new member will be in place.
If you wish to request your thread to use the roll system to help bluff your way out or hide, you may request so from the staff, otherwise, you will continue normally.
Note: If you're an authority figure and have found a thread that could possibly be breaking the law please Admin to see the action taken for it and to see if you are allowed to invade these threads.

[attr="class","gentitle2"]Requesting back-up
[attr="class","geninfo"]
[attr="class","gendesc"]Depending on the offense and how things play out the accuser/criminal and authority can request back-ups to help them in a thread. For every extra person, you invite the opposing side can ask one extra person to join too, up to six people per thread max. Though once it has hit this amount it will become a DICE THREAD and will require the admins to intervene to make sure that it's being played fairly and equally among the members and to prevent any bitter and or hostile accusations.
[attr="class","gentitle2"]TL;DR
[attr="class","geninfo"]
[/PTab][PTab=[attr="class","gendesc"]All invasion threads must have staff permission.
Authority figures can browse threads and PM a staff if they feel one should be invaded, a staff will review and in turn approve or deny
Members can choose to use the dice/roll system to use their skills to pass checks or rp normally
Members can request back-up, to a total of six in a thread
Once six people are in a thread it becomes AUTOMATICALLY A DICE THREAD
Jail time can happen whether you are apart of the plot or not, to find out more on jail time read here

[attr="class","gentab2"]HARDCORE THREADS
][attr="class","gentitle2"]WHAT ARE HARDCORE THREADS?
[attr="class","geninfo"]
[attr="class","gendesc"]TEG is an event based RP Forum with an overarching story behind it. To add to the realism of the setting we want characters to have the risk of dying so that they think about their decisions more and so the overall plot feels like it has higher stakes. Our skills and roll system is designed to make this aspect of the board more fair so that you will always have a chance no matter how slim it may be.
Hardcore threads are the main attraction of TEG and all of our major story events will be set to hardcore. This way the story moves at a realistic pace that the players have to drive forward, but it is not given to them. You have to earn it and in order to reap the rewards you will have to face the risk.

[attr="class","gentitle2"]WHY SHOULD I JOIN A HARDCORE THREAD?
[attr="class","geninfo"]
[attr="class","gendesc"]The biggest deterrent to hardcore threads is the fact you may lose your character. No one wants to lose a character that they put hard work and emotion into, but there are times when it makes for better story. Some of the most memorable characters in storytelling are those who did not make it to the end and we want to build a story with those characters in our history. But, that is not why you should want to join these threads.
Story Plots - All major story events will be hardcore by default. On top of that, many of these story plots will require you (as a player) or your character to have participated in a certain number of hardcore threads. If you wan to be one of the driving forces for the story then you need to participate in these events.
Rewards - Unlike normal events hardcore threads will award far more than just a sum of cash. Survivors of hardcore events will receive special unique skills and permanent items that act as both a badge of honor and something useful that your character can use. In some cases we will also award special items to players who participated but lost their characters to use on their next character. Each event will have its own rewards that may or may not be revealed until the event is over. No two rewards will be the same so if you want to be a collector you better wash your lucky pair of underwear.
Recognition - It takes some balls to put your characters at risk especially when they could be weeks, months or even a year old. On top of board recognition that you participated in hardcore events we, as staff, will also keep note of players who participate in these hardcore events. Whether its reservations for special canons or items it can only help you to join in these events in the long run. You'll also get special awards for completing these which will show up in your awards tab on your profile and mini profile.

[attr="class","gentitle2"]HARDCORE THREAD RULES
[attr="class","geninfo"]
[attr="class","gendesc"]If your character dies in a hardcore thread then that means they are dead forever. There is no coming back and since this is a future realistic setting resurrection is impossible. Death will always be final and you cannot try to go back once its decided.
When your character dies you may not create any new threads or post in any threads after your character has died. You may, however, continue to post in threads you made before your character's death so that you can rap up any old business before moving on.

[attr="class","gentitle2"]PAIN TOLERANCE
[attr="class","geninfo"]
[attr="class","gendesc"]Hardcore threads are where PAIN TOLERANCE becomes more important. Regardless of whether you have the skill or not every character will be subjected to pain tolerance checks when they are injured.
A pain tolerance check will be relative to the injury and so often it will be very easy to pass or the moderator will even consider the injury so minor your character would always ignore it. With more serious injuries pain tolerance becomes more important and can affect if your character lives or dies.
When your character receives a serious injury the mod will roll an initial pain tolerance check. If your character fails this check then they will become unconscious for a length of time DETERMINED BY THE MODERATOR.
If they pass the initial pain tolerance check then they may continue as normal unless the mod specifically specifies what they can and cannot do due to their injury. However, the moderator will also establish how many posts a character must continue to make checks. This means that even if you pass the first check, every time you finish another post the moderator must roll a pain tolerance check to see if your character can continue to remain conscious. The amount of checks you must pass will be relative to the injury and determined by the moderator.
Pain tolerance checks, like all checks, will always be made after your post and not before. Skills such as combat medicine can help reduce the amount of checks needed to pass and remove moderator set penalties.

[attr="class","gentitle2"]LETHAL INJURIES
[attr="class","geninfo"]
[attr="class","gendesc"]Whenever your character sustains a lethal injury the moderator will establish a DEATH COUNT. This means how many more posts your character has left before they die. Only YOUR turn counts towards the death count.
The only way to prevent death is to either:
If your character makes it to the end post of a thread alive then they will be alive no matter the circumstance (unless the moderator determines they could not have possibly lived. This will be rare and will always be determined in a discussion before a thread ends)
The best way to guarantee survival is to meet the thread's goals as quickly as possible or figure out what those goals are and finish the thread.

- Receive medical assistance in the thread (combat medicine or otherwise designated by the moderator)

[attr="class","gentitle2"]LEAVING THREADS
[attr="class","geninfo"]
[attr="class","gendesc"]Keep in mind that hardcore threads are meant to be more challenging and demanding than normal threads. You cannot leave a thread freely and not expect consequences when death is on the line.
If your character is in a situation where they cannot escape then they will die if you miss your post time without informing the moderator ahead of time. We will be more willing to hand out time for hardcore threads, but only on a case by case basis.
If, however, your character was not in immediate danger when you are skipped or decide to leave the thread then they will not be killed immediately. Instead, they will be unconscious for the remainder of the thread or unless the moderator decides they can continue (this will be rare do not expect this privilege).
The one consequence is that if another character dies during a hardcore event after you have left the thread or been skipped then your character is automatically killed as well. The reason we do this is because that character may have lived if you had not left the thread and so it is only fair to the players who decided to keep moving forward that you face the same consequence.
